Description

This authentic Winchester Model 1873 lever-action rifle, manufactured in 1890, carries a unique Hollywood legacy as part of the Stembridge Gun Rentals collection—one of the most famous prop armories in film history. Modified by Stembridge to resemble the legendary Henry rifle, this firearm was used in numerous movie and television productions, according to the included Certificate of Authenticity signed by Sydney R. Stembridge.

The rifle features several studio modifications typical of Stembridge’s craftsmanship: the forearm was removed, and the barrel and magazine tube were nickel plated for visual appeal under studio lighting, while the receiver and buttplate were brass plated to mimic the iconic appearance of a Civil War–era Henry rifle. Authentic Stembridge “S” markings are stamped on the underside of the receiver and barrel, confirming its origin.

Fitted with a beaded blade front sight and remnants of a rear sight base, this rifle is mounted with a smooth walnut stock and brass trapdoor crescent buttplate. Despite light wear from both age and use on set, the rifle remains a fine and mechanically sound artifact—bridging the worlds of frontier history and classic Hollywood Westerns.
